Blackburn Rovers: The Unlikeliest Giantkillers

When Jack Walker bought Blackburn Rovers, they were strugglers in the Second Division.

Within five years, they were Premier League champions.

Fired on by Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton; led by Kenny Dalglish; steered by the likes of Tim Sherwood, Colin Hendry and Graeme Le Saux. ‘Little old Blackburn’, as Shearer put it, ‘came in and took on the might of Manchester United’. And after a final day of unbelievable tension and drama, little old Blackburn prevailed. One point was all that separated the two. But for Blackburn, it was enough – history was theirs.

It was one hell of a story.

Alan Shearer & Chris Sutton

Were Shearer and Sutton the best-ever partnership?

The pair scored 49 goals between them to help Blackburn secure the title in 1994/95.
